In an interesting turn of an event in Mizoram after the creation of three new districts – Hnahthial, Khawzawl and Saitual recently, a host of other district demand committees have come up, one of them is West Phaileng District Demand Committee.

According to Vanglaini the committee will press for an Autonomous District Council (ADC) for West Phaileng if their demand of the new district is not fulfilled this time.

There are three Autonomous Ditrict Councils for minorities in Mizoram namely – Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) for Chakmas in South-west Mizoram, Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) for Lais in South Mizoram to the west of CADC, and Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) in the Southern most tip of the state.
