The Hottest Chilli in the World is from NorthEast India
A particular Chilli by name ‘Bhut Jolokia’ from Tezpur in Assam, North East India has been called ‘the hottest chilli’ in the world by Time Magazine.
Chilli heat is measured in Scoville Heat Units. These Tezpur pods top the charts.
It is learned that human beings can take only till 2,000 units but this Chilli is almost 20,000.
Ever since Time Magazine’s summer issue on global food habits called them the hottest chillies in the world, these ‘Bhut Jolokias’ also known as Naga Chillies have been selling like hot cakes.
Is this the same as Manipuris’ Raja Chilli (King Chilli)? It looks like they are one and the same.
