New Delhi, June 13, 2007 : St Stephen’s has upheld its status as a minority Christian educational institution by going ahead with its decision to reserve 10 per cent of seats for Dalit Christians.
This means that the Christian quota has gone up from 30 to 40 per cent. The move has come in for strong criticism, as the college has decided to increase its quota for Christian students.
This new admission policy will push up total seats reserved for Christians to 40 per cent of the 400 seats available, which means the number of seats for general category students will go down by 40. Read more from the Source: NDTv.com
This is good news for Chritian students from Northeast who are mostly Schedule Tribes and Scheduled Castes.
