Sonia Gandhi visiting Mizoram for ‘Mautam’ famine victims
United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is visiting Mizoram to assess the effect of Mautam ‘Famine’ in the state and is expected to interact with the victims.
According to Maraland Daily Newspaper at Saiha(Siaha) and the Aizawl Post Newspaper in Aizawl, she will land at Lengpui Airport on Saturday, 15th June 2008 by a special chartered plane, she will head to Sangau town in Saiha District in Southern Mizoram by a helicopter. Sangau is within Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC).

A hectic schedule is awaiting for her. She is also expected to visit mautam victims at Tokalo town (Tongkalong) within Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC).
The most powerful woman in the country is also to stop by Rajiv Nagar, a village named after the Late Indian Prime Minister and her husband Rajiv Gandhi. Residents of Rajiv Nagar are upbeat about the prospect of Mrs Gandhi visiting them.
The newspapers reported that ACCI Chairperson will not drop in at Aizawl, instead she will head to New Delhi on Saturday night itself.
