Russian City Sochi to host XXII Olympic Winter Games 2014
Sochi, (Russian: Со́чи) a Southern Russian resort city has been selected to host the XXII Olympic Winter Games in 2014.

Sochi defeated runner-up Pyeongchang - who also finished second for the 2010 race behind Vancouver - in final voting after Austrian city Salzburg was knocked out of the race earlier in the day.
Sochi won by 51 votes to 47 - with one abstention - while Pyeongchang had led after the first round with 36 votes to Sochi’s 34 and Salzburg’s 25.
This beautiful Russian resort city is situated in Krasnodar Krai near the southern Russian border. It is located among the snow-capped peaks of the Caucasus Mountains overlooking the shores of the Black Sea. At 147 km, Greater Sochi is claimed to be the longest city in Europe. As of the 2002 Census, it had a population of 328,809, down from 336,514 recorded in the 1989 Census (the size of the population is similar to that of Aizawl city, Mizoram Capital).
Well, for the first time (Sochi attracts about 2 millions tourists a year) a very popular summer resort city is going to host Winter Olympic Games. However, Sochi also gets Snow in winter.
