Hi,
I am staying in New Zealand for more then 3 years ,how shall I get my ECNR under this ? Im going to apply for my passport (re-isseu) as it’s going to expire soon .
Please help.
Thanks.

Comment from Beita Jr.

Hi Ros, ECNR is for those Indian citizens who wish to clear immigration check in an Indian port. If you are already in New Zealand as you have mentioned, you don’t need to get ECNR.

For worry free ECNR, do ask the officials when you apply for re-issue of the new passport. They will tell you how your passport can be endorsed with ECNR.

I have ECR stamp on my passport. I am planning to visit Bangkok next month.

My question is do I need to get clearance from POE as I am not going to Bangkok for employment purpose and only for tourism for 12 days.

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: June 22, 2009, 4:16 pm

Hi Rajesh, Thailand issues ‘Visa on arrival’ and you don’t need to get the clearance from POE. However, to make sure, just confirm with the travel agent from where you are going to buy the tickets.

Hello Sir,
I am in the process of applying a govt. approved licence to employ manpower overseas. I would like to know how to get an ECNR for an individual if he has ECR on his passport. How long will be the procedure to get an ECNR and whr to apply. And how much will be the fees.
Thanking You.

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: July 21, 2009, 6:08 pm

Hi Panky, it depends on countries. For Certain countries ECNR is not required even if their passports are ECR, but not all countries. To get permanent ECNR it must be applied from where the passports are issued. Otherwise, they can also get one time ECNR every time they leave the country from POE. The address and details are already given above.

I check her passport it is mentioning ECR is required , she is not educated , what can i do in this situation , there is no enough time and how much time take if i want to do ECNR.
PLEASE KINDLY HELP IN THIS SITUATION , THERE IS NO TIME TO DO THE MORE EXCERSIZE,

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: October 16, 2009, 3:53 am

Hi Veera Prasad, for one time ECNR, you don’t need many days, one day is enough. ECNR is for someone like her who is uneducated. She must go to POE in Hyderabad with her Visa, PP and the confirmed tickets. They will issue her within few minutes provided the queue is short.

please clarify i dont have enough time only one day leave for me what will do?

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: November 7, 2009, 3:38 am

Hi kathirvelu, for that kind of situation she must apply “temporary ECNR” from POE. She must take her ticket(s), visa and passport to the POE office and apply. She will be granted “one time ECNR” just for Oman. Everytime she goes abroad she must apply for ECNR again. Wishing you good luck!

Hi Puneet, ECNR is not required for European countries (excluding CIS countries). They don’t need to apply for ECNR even if their passport is endorsed as ECR.

i got my passport done while i was in undergrad.so am assuming my pp wud be a ECR one. I have lived abroad in EUR for a year and a half and visited EUR half a dozen times on work and never required to check on the ECNR stamp. Now iam planning to visit Dubai next month on personal work. Pls advice if i will need to get an ECNR stamp and how to get that done.

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: November 17, 2009, 8:09 pm

Hi Anoop, ECNR is not required for EU countries excluding CIS countries, for Dubai you will need one. After you get the Visa and tickets, you can go to Protectors of emigrants (addresses given above) and apply for ECNR – don’t forget to take the air tickets, passport with visa and some bucks (less than Rs.500, not sure now). It will take few minutes depending on the length of the queue.

Hi,
My brother completed his plus two and a one year diploma course (Private). Now he got a job in UAE based on the diploma and his experience. What ever documents we need to submit for an POE clearance,…? What is the procedure for that..?

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: December 8, 2009, 6:14 pm

Hi Jayesh, if his passport is ECR, he can apply for one time ECNR or permanent ECNR. For one time ECNR, he can go and visit POE office closest to him with his Visa (Passport), air tickets, employment documents. One time ECNR is good for one trip to UAE. If he comes home, he must apply again through POE. This takes few hours depending on the length of the Queue. For permanent ECNR, he must apply from the regional passport office that issued him the passport. If he is eligible as per the guide written here http://tinyurl.com/y8n6q9j8 they will tell him how long it is going to take. It can take weeks or several days. If he has less time to do that, he must just apply “one time ECNR from the POE.”

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: December 8, 2009, 6:20 pm

Hi Fatima, your sister could have applied for ECNR right after her graduation (B.A/B.Com/or equivalent) not waiting for an MBA certificate. Since she needs to travel on 16th Dec, I suggest she applies for “one time ECNR” from a POE nearest to her residence. She must apply for this after she gets her Visa. Visa endorsed Passport, air tickets, and your address in Kuwait will be required for her to fill up the form. Depending on the length of the Queue, she needs to wait. It should be done within few hours. Best of luck..

Visa endorsed Passport, air tickets, and your address in Kuwait will be required for her to fill up the form and present them before the officer in POE office. Depending on the length of the Queue, she needs to wait. It should be done within few hours. I hope someone can help her go to the POE office.

As for applying permanent ECNR, I suggest you call up the embassy and inquire about it. They will be able to tell you..

Dear Beita ,

1) Is it necessary to take ECNR each time when I leave India if I am on the same employment (UAE) Visa..?

2) I was in Dubai till the age of 5 (in mother’s passport). Recently I worked 2 years in Dubai.
I came to know that ..those who stay abroad for more than 3 years are eligible for ECNR enorsement.

In my case it is 5+2 ..am I eligible for ECNR endorsement since I was in mothers passport ?

seeks valuable reply from you.

Thanking you,
Shahnawaz.

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: December 23, 2009, 3:42 pm

Hi Shahnawaz,

1). Yes – but if the POE office clears you for the duration of your employment there, you don’t need to.
2). Your second question surprises me. Did you get ECNR when you went to Dubai for 2 years? Dubai and UAE are the same for immigration clearance. I’ve never heard that those who stay abroad for more than 3 years are eligible for ECNR endorsement. If you are eligible qualification-wise, it is better to apply permanent ECNR.

Comment from Shahnawaz
Time: December 24, 2009, 2:35 pm

Dear Beita…in the beneath link it is mentioned about 3 year abroad stay as an eligibilty for ECNR endorsement .

kindly ..pls clear this..

Shahnawaz.

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: December 24, 2009, 2:50 pm

Hi Shanawaz, you are right…. it reads like this:
What are the minimum documents required for an ECNR endorsement?
One of the following documents:

* Matriculation (SSLC)/PUC-II / Degree Certificate
* PAN Card
* Annexure ‘I’ if person has stayed abroad for more than 3 years
(Please click here to download format.)

Class 10 certificate or document to proof that the applicant has stayed abroad for more than 3 years are eligible to apply. It doesn’t make more favourable. Both are minimum documents required for obtaining ECNR.

Comment from Shahnawaz
Time: December 26, 2009, 7:29 pm

Dear Beita…

you can add the beneath question also as from the same link…

Which are the categories of persons entitled to get ECNR endorsements on their passports?

Persons staying abroad for more than three years. An affidavit to this effect is to be submitted (as per format at Annexure ‘I’ of the instructions given along with passport application form. To download the format, please click here).

Thanking you very much,
Shahnawaz.

Hi There,
Im working in south africa, my will be joining me on dependant visa. Her passport has ECR stamp like “Emigration check required, except for Pakistan, All countries in Europe(except Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), North America, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, South Africa, & Singapore”. Does she need to get the ECR status change to ECNR?? south africa is already mentioned in exception countries, but still people raising doubts. Can you please confirm my understanding.

Many Thanks
Kiran

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: December 30, 2009, 3:59 pm

Hi Kiran, even though her passport status is ECR, for the above mentioned countries she does not need to get emigration clearance from the POE. In her kind of case ‘Emigration Check is Required’ only for all countries not mentioned above. In fact, even for the countries not mentioned above – effective of October 2007, a good number of them (countries) were exempted from the same if the purpose of the visit is other than employment. Ref. http://www.immihelp.com/nri/ecnr-emmigration-check-not-required-stamp.html

So, you are good. No need to worry…

Hi Devkaran, documents require for ECR clearance with POE are your passport with valid visa, and two-way tickets, the application fee is about Rs.300/-. You will need POE clearace for Saudi Arabia for all purposes. However, also note that the permanent ECNR endorsement on your passport is done only through regional passport office.

Hi Rahul, if the emigration status page is blank it means your passport status is ECNR. Lately RPOs issued such passports and have caused confusion for many. You are require to get emigration clearance from POE only if your passport has ECR stamp on it. You are safe!

Hi Adersh, ask your friend whether his passport has ECNR stamp or not. If it has ECR stamp on it or ECNR stike off, he needs to get emigration clearance from POE or get permanent ECNR if he is eligible. The minimum qualification required for ECNR is Class 10 pass certificate. It all depends on the status of his passport.

Hi Chaand, if the emigration status page is blank it means your passport status is ECNR. Lately RPOs issued such passports and have caused confusion for many. You are require to get emigration clearance from POE only if your passport has ECR stamp on it. If you have include matriculation certificate, that was all they needed not only for DOB proof but also for ECNR status in your account.

As for Singapore, whether you have ECR or ECNR in your passport, emigration clearance is not required… You are safe and have good time in Singapore!

My passport is issued from regional passport office chandigarh in 2003. My present/permanent address is different than that in my passport. I have my own house in Mohali for the last five years. Now I went to RPO chandigarh for ECNR they are telling that you should first change your address and it will take around one month then only you can apply for ECNR. there is very limit time around 10 days from me to join a job in Dubai. What should I do in such a circumstance…..mohana

Comment from Beita Jr.

Hi Mohana, obviously you don’t have enough time to get ECNR from the regional passport office; for this kind of case, temporary emigration clearance is done through the offices of Protector of Emigrants (POE). They will clear it for you within one day. Go visit POE office in Chandigarh or Delhi, the addresses are given above. To apply the clearance you must furnish your Passport with Visa, air tickets, employment letters, and a few bucks.. all the best!

Hi Uma Shankar, you must have applied it with 10th std. certificate long time ago, now the minimum is lowered to 10th std. certificate. You can approach the REgional Passport office once again and furnish any certificate above 10th Std. They will give you ECNR status provided you satisfy them with a good background record.

Hi Anuradha, you can definitely get passport and for Visa, well it depends on the embassy or consulate of the country you are planning to visit. First apply passport from the regional passport office near you and Visa comes later. Good luck!

Hi Uma Shankar, there is an application form at the Regional passport office you need to fill up and furnish the documents along with your passport if you want to get permanent ECNR. Otherwise, you need to get temporary ECNR for a country you are trying to visit. For this you need to get emigration clearance from POE office near you. All the best..

In the previous passport (issued in India) , there was ECNR stamp but in the new ones issued from Dubai, the ECNR stamp is not there. I would appreciate if you could clarify as to if I need to get ECNR for them.

Hi Roji, lately many passports are issued without any ECNR stamps. It means they are ECNR by default. Unless ECR stamp is found in the emigration page, it is the same as ECNR stamp before. Let us know if ECR stamp is in the passports, if not both are ECNR by default. Nothing to worry!

Till now I didn’t got the visa. But the university has mentioned that they will arrange “entry visa”. Do I need ECNR stamp? If yes, then how much time will it take for temporary ECNR at POE and what are the requirements?

Looking forward for your reply…thanks

Hi,
Could you please let me know if i get permanent ECNR stamp in Hyderabad PoE offfice or do i need to submit it in RPO Hyderabad? Our company is applying for Work Visa for Saudi Arabia and asked us to get ECNR within a week. Please let me know the process

Comment from Beita Jr.

Hi abdul baqi, you will need ECNR stamp. It takes just few hours at PoE office, you need to provide Visa duly stamped Passport, and the documents showing your admission in the Univ. etc, tickets. You will be issued a temporary ECNR. All the best.
-
Hi Shivakumar, PoE offices cannot issue permanent ECNR. If you’ve got work Visa for S. Arabia, you can either apply temporary ECNR from PoE office in Hyd. or apply permanent ECNR from RPO in the same city. PoE can only stamp temporary ECNR. If you have only one week, you’d better approach the PoE with the documents. Getting permanent ECNR from RPO may take days if not weeks.

Hi Rajan Kumar, the minimum qualification needed for ECNR stamp endorsement on your passport is 10th (HSLC) standard. This came to effect only from October 2007, that’s why many people do not know. You need to apply from the Regional Passport Office (RPO). But this may take time. If you are in a hurry, you should get the clearance for Muscat from the POE near you. POE clearance will take only a day. All the best.

Hi Sameer, simply staying abroad for 3 years does not entitled you an ECNR. You need to apply one. When you do, they will put ECNR stamp on your passport. The minimum qualification requires is only Class 10. Wishing you all the best.

Hi, I am working in Abu Dhabi and planning to sponsor a maid servant from india(TN) and she is willing to work here. how should i proceed, she has ECR stamp on her passport.do i need her to change her status to ECNR from POE. please help.

Comment from Beita Jr.

Hi Matthew, your maid will need to get “temporary emigration clearance” from the POE provided s/he is older than 30 years of age. As per the rules Domestic helpers must be more than 30 years to work abroad. One of Samaw.com users Shri Kumaravelu http://samaw.com/emigration-check-requiredecr-for-indians-going-abroad/299 had such experience. the maid is also from TN coincidentally… Follow the link to read his problems and the comments. POE can only clear the emigration for one time, permanent clearance can be done only by the Regional Passport Office.

Hi Harish, lately many passports are issued without any ECNR stamps on it. It means they are ECNR by default. Unless ECR stamp is found in the emigration page, it is the same as ECNR stamp. You are safe. Nothing to worry! Besides, for France emigration check is not required…

Hi Thiru, normally it takes a day to get emigration clearance from the Protector of Emigrants (POE) across the country. In Chennai, POE office is in Ashok Nagar, the full address is given at the above post. You will need Valid passport with Visa, air tickets and employment letters. Samaw.com advises users but it should not be considered as the final word. The POE has the right to demand more documents anytime. All the best.

Thanks for your reply earlier. I tried contacting POE office in Delhi but there is no response. However I checked with my friend who joined a job in Muscat earlier this year, he mentioned his Passport is also blank which was presumed to be ECNR and he did not face any hassle while travelling. I checked with local Oman Air office who have also confirmed the same. However in case I am required to get a stamping later, never know these travel rules, approx how much time will ECNR stamping take at RPO Bhikaji Cama here in Delhi?

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: March 24, 2010, 11:44 am

Hi Nitish/Pesto, new passports issued will have ECR stamps only if emigration clearance is required, for those who don’t need, nothing will be mentioned. It means yours is ECNR by default. Even if you apply for ECNR stamping from RPO at Bhikaji Cama Place, they will not entertain your application, simply because you already got one. The authorities in the ports also know about this. You don’t need to worry.

Hi,
My passport has been issued from Kolkata and for ECNR stamp whether I have to go to Protector of Immigrants office in Kolkata or I can approach Mumbai office as I stay close to Mumbai?

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: May 1, 2010, 10:57 am

Hi Chiradeep, there are two kinds of emigration clearance. One is to get permanent ECNR endorsement in your Passport from the Regional Passport office, which issued you the passport – which is in Kolkata. The Second option is to get temporary emigration clearance for the specific journey which can be done from any POE offices across the country. For your case, if you want to do the second option, you can do it in Mumbai for the specific Visa you’ve got. The second option can be applied only when you’ve got the visa and bought the tickets. Only 18 countries are required for job/employment visa, for tourist/visit visa all are exempted except Iraq and few closed countries – see here http://www.immihelp.com/nri/ecnr-emmigration-check-not-required-stamp.html If you haven’t got the visa and want to get the clearance in your passport for all countries permanently, you can also do it from Kolkata. I hope this helps.

Hi Salman, Check the emigration page (usually the second page on the passport), passports issued lately are blank for this page, meaning they are ECNR by default. If you are going to Dubai with visit visa, you won’t have any problem with the emigration whether your passport is ECR or ECNR.

We have a maid who is on servant visa in Dubai, UAE since 15-Nov-08 & the visa was renewed on 25-Nov-09 and is valid till 24-Nov-10.

The maid will be travelling to India for the 2nd time in aug-sept-2010 timeframe & need advise if we need to repeat the protector of emigrant formalities for her to travel back to UAE.

The previous EC was granted on 14-Nov-2008 but does not indicate any expiry date although I recall it was indicated that the process need not be done within 1 year but will need to be done for the 2nd year.

Any idea if we need to repeat the POE process done the first time all over again or does it still apply for the EC to be granted the 2nd time.

Hi,

I renewed my passport recently in HYD RPO. I did submit my tax returns form during renewal for ECNR and my Masters certificate as I did not have my 10th or B.E certificate at that point. I got my passport with ECR stamp as my old paspot had ECR. I know the procedure for applying. I just need to know how long will it take to get the ECR cancelled from my passport.

Hi Suresh, for permanent ECNR stamping in your passport, it can be done only from the Regional Passport Office (RPO) – in your case it should be RPO Bangalore. POE is only for temporary emigration clearance (you can call it temporary ECNR). Due to security reasons, the applicant must be present in person. Permanent ECNR stamping can take several days, whereas temporary emigration clearance can be done in a day. I hope this clears.

As for Argentina, you don’t need emigration clearance because it is not an ECR country. You can travel to ARGentina even though your passport is ECR. Have a safe trip!

Hi Beita,
Based on the information on the net and on the basis of all the above comments I went to the POE in Delhi but they did not give ECNR on my passport. They say I need the contract papers to be attested by High Commission in Dubai.
I have the original employment Visa and the contract papers. I am going as an Office Manager. I am 26 yrs female. But they kept telling me about the conditions which is applicable for Unskilled worker/ maid/domestic worker. They refused to listen to me.
It was very upsetting so now I have to go all the way to Kolkata to get a permanent ECNR.
I want to know how much time does it take to get a permanent ECNR? And why the POE refused to giv me the temporary ECNR???

Thanks

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: June 21, 2010, 1:59 pm

Hi Payal, that’s very disappointing. I do not know why POE refused to give you the temporary ECNR. The officials have their way of doing things, sometimes it is very annoying as they do not explain everything in detail. I do feel sorry for you. Anyways, if you get permanent ECNR, that’s the best. Kindly approach the Regional Passport Officer at RPO Kolkata; you can request him to speed up the process. It can be done within few days as well if he agrees to. So, write an application to him and hand him the application in person, you must meet him personally and explain the urgency of the situation. That will speed things up. All the best!

Hi Beita,
Thank you for your help. Yes it is disappointing the bureaucracy in Indian Govt.Offices no one can fight. I called up the office of the Director of Immigration Services and the excuse they have is that they themselves are yet not clear about this rule. It seems this issue had come earlier also and they say they are yet to frame a set rule. In that case they should not give misleading information on their website…I wish I could complain about this to someone.
Anyways thanks a lot for all your help.

This is really sad. So, they don’t even know their work. Kindly explain this to the RP Officer in Kolkata. Let’s hope he will at least pass on the problem face by common people to higher authorities so that unnecessary bureaucratic hurdle like this is removed immediately. Hi Beita,

Yes those were his exact words. Anyways I got my ECNR done from Kolkata. But it’s just that becoz of the misleading info. on the govt. website I had to shell our Rs.12000/ for my flight
to get ECNR done, had i known earlier I cud have gone by train. and saved a lot of money.
I really get angry when I think about how our system works. I wish we cud learn something for the west…

Anyway thank you for all your help I think your blog is very helpful for people who have no idea abt all these stuff..Keep it up.

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: June 22, 2010, 10:17 pm

Hi Ginni, it means your passport is ECR since ECNR is cancelled. Passport issued during those days are like that. For Canada and the U.S, emigration clearance is not required even though your passport is ECR. However, if you want to get ECNR in your passport for all purposes, you can apply from Patna Regional passport office (RPO), unless you change your address in the passport first, Mumbai RPO will not accept your ECNR application. But if you need temporary (or one time) emigration clearance from the POE office, this can be done from Mumbai or any other POE offices in India. I hope this clears the doubt.

Hi Payal, sorry to hear about that… let’s hope things will get better from now on…

Hi Urugesean, after you got a job you need to apply UAE (Dubai) Visa. Once you got a visa, comes the question of emigration. If you have not completed 10th std, your passport will be an ECR passport. You can get emigration clearance from the Protector of Emigrant (POE) office in Chennai. This is the nearest POE office for you. You need to go in person to apply for this.

Hi Shamim, you should visit Indian Embassy in Sharjah (UAE) and consult the officials there for emigration clearance for visiting other countries. In fact, you should not have problem for visiting (tourist visa) any other countries in the Gulf region. The embassy officials will be able to advice you what you need to do.
And If you have a chance to come back home, you should meet Regional Passport officer at Santacruz Passport Office directly and present your request. The officials in the counter have limited authority to decide on such case.

Hi Sachin, New Zealand is not an ECR country, therefore, whether you have ECR in your passport or not does not count. You are exempted. All you need is a visa.
Answer to ur 2nd question: The minimum requirement for getting ECNR has now been lowered to 10th standard. If you will apply this time, you will get it. But remember, it takes time. If you don’t have atleast 40 days, it is better not to apply at this time. If your passport is expiring in March 2011, they will likely to issue you the visa accordingly. But once you are in NZ, you can renew both.

Hi Ranji, your friends are right. The passport issued these days are BLANK at emigration page. By default they are ECNR. If it is ECR only, they will mention/write ECR in the 2nd page of the passport.

Comment from Beita Jr.
Time: July 16, 2010, 1:31 pm

Hi Asif, ‘temporary’ emigration clearance for ECR passport holders can be done “in person” from POE offices anywhere in India. It does not have to be near the address in the passport. You can do from Trivandrum or Chennai or any other cities where POE offices are located. However, if you want to apply ‘permanent’ ECNR stamp in your passport, you need to apply from the Regional Passport Office (RPO) that issued you the passport. You can’t apply elsewhere.

The gov’t website specified that only job/employment visa holders will need emigration clearance if their status is ECR. That leaves out tourist, visit and other visas.

For those who have stayed more than 3 years abroad, they can get permanent ECNR, it does not have to be 24 years. As long as your passport is valid, ECNR too will be valid. Once you get ECNR, unless there is a good reason, the authorities will not bar you after 24 years also. You will have the privilege throughout your life provided your passport is valid. I hope this clears the doubt.

Hi Asif, there is no benefits for their spouses. I believe you misheard. Anyone who has ECNR in their passport but have stayed continuously abroad for more than 3 years will be granted ECNR when they renew the passport or apply ECNR newly. It is for them, not for their wives or husbands. The gov’t website has not mentioned more than that. I hope this clears the doubt.

I am about to join Delhi Public School, Doha, Qatar as a Post Graduate Teacher of English. My Qualification is M A. B Ed. And my passport no is J0743284. As per the new norms there is no ECNR stamp on my passport which means that i have ECNR status. I have received a valid work visa from them. The visa number is 03201009762 with a one way entry to Qatar. I am waiting for my one way ticket for september 2010. Do i need emigration clearance? If yes, what is the procedure? can i apply online. What documents do i need?

Hi Umesh, your emigration status is ECNR. So, you do not require further clearance; unless it is a country like Iraq, where travelling itself is banned for Indians by the Indian gov’t, you do not require one. :)

Hi Mr. Patel, As per the comments of the users, if she has a valid Visa & Passport, return ticket should not be mandatory for your wife. It will depend on the kind of visa they have issued for her. The gov’t website is not very specific or clear on this. If you have more doubts, kindly ask your wife to visit the nearest POE office in India. All the best.

Hi Manoj, for visit visa emigration clearance is not required even if her passport bears ECR. The exemption has been in effect since Oct. 2007. I hope this clears the doubt.

Hi Siddarth, as per the new exemption made by the gov’t, you will not require one. Besides, Oman and Qatar have the same emigration clearance requirement. If you still have doubts, kindly contact any POE offices in India listed above. All the best.

Hi Shubhasree, you can get passport but why do you want to get with degree? Degree is granted by institutes, colleges and universities. Since you are class 10 passed, you can also get ECNR passport if you submit the photocopy of 10th passed certificate. I hope this clears the doubt.

Hi Ali, since you’ve crossed 24 years of age, emigration officers may reject you at the airport, you’d better to check with POE office, the addresses are given above. All the best.

Hi Reshma, firstly Malaysia is not an ECR country, therefore, emigration clearance is not required for this particular country. You can visit without any problem. Secondly, if you want to get ECNR in your passport, you need to apply from the Regional Passport Office that issued you the passport. The minimum requirement to get ECNR is producing HSLC (class 10) passed certificate and above. The whole process can take upto 40 days maximum. So, if you don’t have enough time, do it when you come back from ML. All the best.

Hai Beita,

I am currently working in Bahrain. I am planning to bring my mom under visit visa. Her passport is ECR. Do she require an ECNR to come to Bahrain under visit visa.
Also since she don’t have 10th class pass certificate and age under 50,what are other options to get ECNR Status. I heard that she can get ECNR by producing PAN card at passport office. Is it true?

Hi Abdul, for visit visa, your mom will not need emigration clearance from the Protector of emigrant (POE) office for Bahrain even though her passport is ECR status.
If she has not passed 10th standard, options are really limited, kindly check http://www.immihelp.com/nri/ecnr-emmigration-check-not-required-stamp.html see ECNR part.
Anyways, she doesn’t need emigration clearance for visit visa, why bother to get ECNR. Even if it is required, the clearance (from the POE) can be done in a day, to apply new ECNR (from the passport office) in the passport can take several days. Besides, for Bahrain, emigration suspension is not required for visit visa. I hope this helps.

Hi Vigya, if the emigration page is BLANK, it means it is ECNR by default. The passports issued lately are like this.

Hi Teja, yes, you can travel to Dubai without ECNR in the passport. Any visas other than employment/job visas, there will be no emigration problem. This is the new exemption made by our hamara sarkar!

Hi Sanjay, passports issued lately as Blank at emigration page, it is ECNR by default. Only if your passport is ECR, it will be mentioned. I hope this clears the doubt.
