People of Maraland to hold Village Council elections
ZONET, Nov. 2 – The people of Maraland are soon to go to polls to elect 77 Village Councils in Mara Autonomous District Council area (MADC). Our Saiha Correspondent reported that official notification calling for the VC general is expected tomorrow.
According to prior information given by the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC), the polling will be held on the 12th of this month.
Meanwhile the MADC which will conduct the VC election has made all necessary ground preparations including revision of the Village Council electoral rolls.
Returning officers and polling officers to conduct the polling have also been selected and their appointment will be issued in a couple of days. The Deputy Commissioner and the District SP are expected to make security arrangement for the polling.
It may be recalled that the Village Council elections in the District has become overdue and the term of the present Village Councils have been extended twice for 6 months each.
