Aizawl, Nov 5:  The Election Commission has issued notification for election to the 40-member Mizoram Assembly today.  The notification issued under sub-section 2 of section 15 of Representation of the Peoples Act, 1951 called upon each of the assembly constituencies to elect members to the Legislative Assembly. 

Filing of nominations which begins from today is closing on November 12. Scrutiny takes place the following date and the last date for withdrawal has been fixed on November 15.

Polling is to take place from 7 am to 4 pm on December 2
and counting will be taken up on the December 8.

The entire process of the election shall be completed by December 13.

The Election Commission has enforced model code of conduct from October 14, the date of announcement of the election scheduled by the Commission.

According to the final electoral rolls of the state, 6,11,124 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in these elections.  Female voters outnumber male counterparts by 6,644.
