North East India State capitals to be connected by Railways
All State capitals of the North East Region are proposed to be connected by Railway Lines wherever feasible.
Two state capitals are already connected by rail lines i.e. Guwahati (Assam) and Agartala (Tripura). Further works have been taken up for connecting State capitals of Manipu – Imphal, Mizoram – Aizawl, Nagaland – Kohima and Arunachal Pradesh – Itanagar.
As per the present estimate, cost of providing linkages to four State capitals where works are already sanctioned is above Rs. 4200 crore. For State capitals of Sikkim – Gangtok and Meghalaya – Shillong, survey has been taken up.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Ministry of Railways, Dr. R. Velu in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.

We should be very careful. Just over a million population is nothing against over a billion people from central India. They will swamp our land. ILP must stay… but in train service, how will they check ILP?
