No ECR or ECNR stamp: Passport Blank emigration page
Indian Passports issued lately do not contain ECR or ECNR stamp at the emigration page which is usually in the first few pages on the passport.
If the emigration page is BLANK (no mention of ECR or ECNR), by default it is ECNR. Meaning – the status of the passport holder is Emigration Check Not Required (ECNR).
These days, ECNR status are not stamped anymore. Many people do not know and have asked many times about their emigration status in such cases. The Regional passport offices (RPOs) have stopped stamping ECNR and left it blank, which they were supposed to do from the beginning. Therefore, blank emigration page means it is ECNR by default.
An ECR (emigration check required) seal will be stamped in the passport “if and only if” the status of the passport holder is Emigration Check Required.

Dear sir
I worked in the Ministry of Eduction for 9 years in Oman as an English Teacher. I have got a post graduate degree. I attached
my PG Degree at the time of applying for ECNR in my previous passport from Hyderabad
I renewed my passport in Oman on February 2008. There is no stamp of either ECR or ECNR in my passport. I have to travel Oman on November 6,2010 for job.. Could you please let me know whether I need to get ECNR?

Hi Shafeesheikh, passports issued after 2006 are left blank at the emigration page if they are ECNR in nature. They are ECNR by default. Only if your status is ECR, ECR stamp will be indicated. Yours is ECNR, Emigration Check Not Required. Yours is safe and good. All the best.

Hi Yukesh, you need to submit any pass certificate above Class X (10th standard). That will do.
