Music is the food of Mizo people
One of the most successful football players among Maras and possibly Mizos as a whole, Malsawmtluanga Syhlo aka Mama told Laxmi Negi of Indian Express newspaper “Music is the food of Mizo people”.
Mumbai, January 30 When footballer from Mizoram, Malsawmtlunga Syhlo (Mama) is in Goa - his home away from home - he likes to hang on to his guitar strings for support. This 24-year-old diminutive attacking medio firmly believes that music is the food of the Mizo people and playing Bon Jovi’s Bed of Roses with his Mizo friends is truly a rejuvenating experience.

“I grew up in Aizwal, looking at Baichung play. I was lucky in 1999 when I was playing for TFA in Rovers Cup and we got to play against East Bengal.” He remembers, “I did not take my eyes off Baichung. I saw him eat, interact with people and prepare before the game.” It was an unforgettable period when he played with Bhutia in the gold and red brigade and says, “I learnt a great deal from him.”

Hi!
Malsawmtluanga is a Mara. However, his surname is spelled wrong. It is Syuhlo, not Syhlo. Malsawmtluanga Syuhlo. Pu S. Hiato, former Minister too is from the same clan. This clan name is pretty close with Sailo among Luseis and also Solo among Maras.
Malsawmtluanga Syuhlo was honoured on Maraland Gospel Centenary Celebration held at Siaha(Saiha) in Nov 2007. Read Moonlight Moonlight News paper
