Mizoram Politician with bullets arrested at Kolkata airport
Shri Lalmalsawma Zasai, Executive Member (EM) at one of the district councils in Mizoram was caught with bullets at Kolkata airport. He was arrested and was released on bail the same day.
Mizoram resident Lalma Lalsama Zasai, 40, was carrying two 7.65-mm bullets in a bag that he converted into hand baggage on being told at the Air India check-in counter on Saturday that he was carrying excess luggage.
On being caught, Zasai claimed to be a leader of the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) in Mizoram. But he had no license with him to carry ammunition.

He was produced at the district court in Barasat yesterday (August 17) where he was released on bail. Jasai, who claimed to be a leader Mizo National Front, was scheduled to board the Kolkata Aizawl Air India flight IC 213.

Maraland.net has confirmed that the man in question is none other than HC. Lalmalsawma Zasai, a sitting MDC at Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) from Rawmibawk constituency. He is currently holding the portfolios of Agriculture and Horticulture as one of the Executive Members (EM) at Mizo National Front (MNF) and Maraland Democratic Front (MDF) alliance government at the council. He was elected as an MDC from MNF party – the ruling party in Mizoram state government, defeating veteran Congress politician Shri R.T Zachono.
He and some of MADC officials went to Delhi for some works and are on their way back home.

Newslink English Daily newspaper in Aizawl seems to have copied one sentence from the above article, and they did not correct the abbreviated form of Mizo National Front as MNF but it is given as MDF just like I did make the mistake. Of course, I had just corrected but theirs is not still corrected. Look at Zawlbuk.net : click here

One of the Lawrkhaw.com users have posted the same news. S/he uses the same exact Title of Samaw.com news. However, no mention of Samaw.com. Others are guessing who is Bengali version of Lalmalsawma Zasai…. the victim is well established and identified here. Patea or Pate is his name. A former MSU President in Shillong. A hardcore MNF from Rawmibawk village where Mara language is spoken mixed with Mizo. Eg. Na tiang khaisang via ty – Lift your stick (hockey) higher.
One newspaper at Saiha published the news and we heard the ruling government at Saiha are not very pleased and they were threatened…. funny politicians… a lawmaker breaking the law of the land…
