MNF formed Gov’t at Lai Autonomous Disctrict Council (LADC)
LAWNGTLAI: Mizo National Front (MNF) Party has formed new government at Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC).
Shri C.Thanghluna Ex-MLA and MDC (Member of Disctrict Council) from AOC (Assam Oil Corporation) Veng Constituency who was elected uncontested will be the House Leader and Chief Executive Member (CEM). In this regard, Mizoram governor has approved the appointment yesterday.
LADC election was held in November 2005 which gave a hung house, and an Independent MDC Shri F. Manghnuna from Diltlang constituency was made CEM by MNF party. When MNF party tried to replace the CEM, horse-trading and re-alingment of parties took place and none could claim to form the government, speculations and predictions on who would form the government continue while LADC continues to be in turmoil. All this comes to an end with the formation of this new government.
Lai Autonomous Disctrict Council (LADC) has 23 elected seats and 4 nominated seats. Out of these MNF has 13 elected seats and 3 nominated seats totalling them to 16 seats in all. While the oppposition has 11 seats.
With the formation of MNF government at LADC, the party is running two Autonomous District Council governments – Chakma Autonomous Disctrict Council (CADC) and Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC).
However, Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) government is run by United Legislature Party (ULP) formed by Congress and Maraland Democratic Front (MDF) lead by Veteran Congress Leader and CEM Shri S. Khipo
