Mizos - the friendliest people in India
While posting ‘Indian tourism related links’ in his blog site, the blog owner who goes by the nick name Oracle has claimed that Mizos are the friendliest people in India.
Indian tourism related links he had listed include most of the ‘Important Indian Tourism websites’ , including tourismofindia.com, wbtourism.com, rajasthantourism.com and many more such related websites.
Specifically speaking, he had also mentioned Mizoram official website as follows:
www.mizoram.nic.in (Mizoram is the land of Mizos, the friendliest people in India)
Big or small, it is a compliment every Mizos will be proud of….

The same statement is found here in a forum post:
The forum posts linked tourismofindia.com which is under construction.
So who copies whom?
The forum post is dated June 26th, 2004, 10:16 PM.
The blog post is dated Monday, September 10, 2007
So I would imagine the blogger simply copies from the forum post.

Yes, your observation seems correct. Sometimes, it is disappointing to know that some blog posts (that re-publish what others have already published) are there just to get traffics from one like us….
Back to the post, I often say outsiders just need to visit our state to know and discover who we really are! Perhaps our culture and way of life could be a lesson to many…

Hi Ron,
Yes, of course we do…. all non-Mizos who came to Mizoram legally are not targeted in the campaign, there were illegal migrants (we may say so) whose work permits have expired but continue to stay in the state and have been known to have created problems.
As you might well know about the INNER Line Permit (ILP) and Restricted Area Permit (RAP) in place for domestic tourists and foreigners respectively to enter Mizoram; those who have such permits have never face any music in the past nor will it ever happen in the future… So, the campaign was aimed at those defaulters and for security measures all non-Mizos were advised not to venture out during such campaigns…
If you need to know more on ILP and RAP, we’ll be happy to help you.
Thanks for visiting Samaw.com….

dear beita jr
thnx 4 ur kind explaination
…..bt i dn’t think thts rite….
why shld a legal indian citizen need an ILP 2 visit a state in his own country…
do mizos need 1 2 visit other places in india like delhi, bangalore…etc…
n whts d “illegal migrants….’
mizos consider all who r non-mizos as illegal….n therefore nt fit 2 live in mizoram….
do u remember hw mizos tortured n threw out d ethnic bru tribe frm mizoram…or do u need more exs…
so plz…dn’t put d full responsibilities on non-mizos…
its high time tht mizos 2 learn 2 cooperate…n cum out of dere narrow-mindedness…
n whts tht “for security measures all non-Mizos were advised not to venture out during such campaigns”
hav u ever heard tht a person of a free country shld stay inside coz…a group of tribe other den his ..ordered him/her
2 stay inside for d sake of dere safety….is tht justified….
u b d judge…
its like telling a innocent 2 stay inside d jail for his/her own safety….
i dn’t knw wht d govt. ws doin….
i knw a lot bout RAP n ILP….
DN’T WORRY…
JST ANS MY QUESTION…..

Hi Ron, Finally you made your point loud and clear. If you argue for Brus the picture would give a different perspective. I’m on journey outside the country and am a little busy at the moment. When I have an ample time, I will respond to it. There is Mizo’s side of story as well…. You’ve raised a very good point though… Thanks for your continued participation in the site.

To Ron,
You said,

You also said, “i knw a lot bout RAP n ILP….”
Respond : If you have understood RAP and ILP, I probably don’t need to explain about this.
Second point, Ron said,
do u remember hw mizos tortured n threw out d ethnic bru tribe frm mizoram…or do u need more exs…
This has something related to politics, I won’t reply anything related to politics here because I don’t know very well about the situation.
The question here is whether Mizos are the friendliest people in India. And you probably said, “No” unlike some other bloggers who affirmed their stand on “YES”.
I do not support nor endorse any of the views, I have simply brought to your notice the statement made by some bloggers.
I hope that clears the cloud.
song4uall, thanks for your participation in the site.
To everyone, let blogs and websites become a tool for everyone to come closer and understand each other situation for betterment of everyone.
Once again, Samaw.com do not endorse any views.
Thank you all.

@beita jr
…d thing is since u dn’t hav ne explaination…thts why ur completely avoiding d question….
bout my point of view….
d ILP is totally undemocartic….n discards d fundamental rite 2 a citizen of india…
if u stdy d act deeply…
n hear all d arguments both for n against …u wil knw…whose correct…
d thing is dis act indirectly makes d constitution of india irrelevant…isn’t it?
n dn’t worry bout me…
i hav studied it more den d no. of times den u ever hav
used d word….’ILP’
n 1nce gain….u r jst hiding frm d facts….
since ur’t havin nething …so ur puttin all d balme on d ‘political factor….’
so why dn’t u discus it….
i guess both u n i know d truth….rite?
i didn’t tell tht mizos rn’t frendly…
i m telling tht only depending on a blog n on a few persons….
u shldn’t exaggerate d truth….
since so many other ‘indians’ r also having d total opposite opinion….
if its jst a publicity stunt…den
its toally ok. wit me…
neways thnx 2 samaw.com n u …

My response:
Firstly, I must be very clear on the points you raised. I feel that I have responded on the Brus, for which I have no much answer since I’m not in the state for many years and have not accessed to the news from the state either. So, it will be unfair for me to comment on that subject.
Secondly, if you raise questions about the ILP and RAP, and claimed that they are unfair, that’s just your opinion. Because, the Gov’t of India has agreed on those terms that British insisted on the Indian gov’t when the power was transferred in 1947.
Yes, much like you there are many Mizos who also feel that ILP and RAP may not be as good as they are designed. But it is a democratic country, the majority representative of the Lusei Hills District had thought otherwise and thus both the restrictions are in place. Perhaps, change is coming soon.

Same to you Ron,
Those who have different views don’t necessarily need to feel unfriendly with you. You have every right to have a different perspective on issues that might have bothered you much. The good thing about democracy is that it allows everyone to express their feelings and opinions openly. But the best will be used picked up for use… And that’s what happening in Mizoram as well.
I too respect your opinion on the topics we have touched. It is good to know how the situations are perceived from the other side. The discussion let us know things more clearly.
Let’s keep the spirit going… Ron, its good to have you around…

@Ron:Brus are not tortured by Mizos..they started torturin g the Mizos and in retaliation, Mizos acted swiftly against the Brus.
India is not a home for the plain people only but also a home for Mizos,Nagas,Khasi,Meiteis and Assamese too.
