Mizoram Bamboo ‘Cheraw’ dance sets World Record
Cheraw, Mizos’ most famous ‘bamboo’ dance was entered into Guinness World Record on March 12, 2010 in Aizawl, the capital city of Mizoram when more than 10,000 people performed in a 3km (1.8 mile) stretch in the city.

According to BBC news,
The 10, 378 dancers performed for eight minutes in Aizawl’s spacious Assam Rifles Grounds, with many spilling out beyond the grounds.
According to PTI News,
After the performance here, Guinness World Records adjudicator from London Lucia Sinigaliesi announced that Mizoram has made a new world record for the largest and longest dance ensemble in the world.
Sinigaliesi also handed over a certificate of record to Art and Culture Minister P C Zoramsangliana.
The total number of dancers in the Cheraw were 10,736 in 671 groups spread between a 2.5 km stretch of the main city road between Sikulpuikawn in the south and Chanmari and in the north as well as inside the Assam Rifles ground.
Earlier, the record holders were the Filipinos. Last year, the largest dance gathering was held at Cebu in the Philippines, where 7,700 people jived together.
