MADC dissolved 10 Village Councils, 16 others under scanner
Siaha/Saiha – Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) government led by United Legislature Party (ULP) comprising of Indian National Congress (Congress) and Maraland Democratic Front (MDF) has dissolved ten (10) Village Councils and put another 16 of them under scanner, Maraland.net News Network reported.
The Village Councils that have been dissolved are Tisi, Lope, Theiva, Zyhno, Siaha-Vaihpi, Meisatla*, Thosai, Chakheitla, Saikao nata Khopai zy cha ei ta.
According to the source, the Village Councils at Lope, Theiva, Zyhno, Thosai, Chakheitla, Saikao and Khopai were dissolved as some of Village Council members belonging to MNF party have resigned and fell short of the majority to form the VC government, they were reportedly switched their loyalty to the alliance of Congress and MDF, who thus formed the new VC governments in those villages.
However, Tisi, Siaha-Vaihpi and Meisatla VCs were dissolved when an Inquiry Committee formed by MADC found that they have misused developmental funds allotted to them.
The Inquiry Committee continues to probe an alleged misused of such funds in another 16 VCs that include Tipa (Tuipang), Tisopi, Siata, Tokalo, Kaochao East, Leisai, Laki, No-aotlah, Myubyu- B, Siaha-New Colony, Chakhei and Siaha-Tlakawh.
However, opposition MNF party has accused the Cong-MDF government of taking revenge on them.
