Lawrkhawm.com user Aryan uncommendable comment
Lawrkhawm.com user by the name ‘Aryan’ has commented about Maraland Idol news with an ironic way of poking fun at Mara people. We don’t condemn him/her but we thank him for revealing his true heart and nature at its best.
Being a regular observer of websites and blogs from Mizoram I’ve often come across some nasty comments here and there about Mara people who would be known to majority Mizos as Lakher. And some of them deserves to be highlighted in this blog too.
While discussing the topic ‘And now, Maraland Idol’ at lawrkhaw.com website, username ‘Aryan’ said,
Lakher ho chu ve zel e!

The literal translation would be, ‘They keep imitating others… These Lakhers’…. sort of comment. The sentence itself may make no much sense but what he really mean is something different. It may have to do with some racial tone.
The attitude of some Lusei(Duhlian) speaking people remain much the same even though they often speak about Reunification of all the Zo brothers. And they buzz the internet with such slogans in many websites. However, the main stumbling block could just be them not the smaller brothers whom they need to accommodate.

Dear Admin,
As Benjamin has pointed out above, the particular user “Aryan” makes fun of everybody in a highly distasteful way, such that he was finally banned from misual.com discussion forums. He has “pissed off” a whole bunch of Mizos with his rude, insensitive, uncouth language, and it would not be wise to use him as an example of what most other Mizos are.
I sympathize with you regarding that unfortunate comment of his which has a certain racial connotation, but there would be more Luseis (duhlian speakers) than Maras who are out crying for his blood right now :-)

I’m the person behind lawrkhawm.com and I was pointed to this post of yours which I found very sensitive.
I would like to point out that you must understand that every person on the Web (and off it) has the right to comment/express his/her view and opinion. Just as you felt that the user was poking fun at Mara people, please also understand that, with this post, you are also directly attacking an individual and could be subverting his/her freedom to expression.
Any member of a Website has the right to post his views/comments, just as you have the freedom to create this site, this post, and the comments on this site.
lawrkhawm.com is an open forum, and in fact the site encourages an open debate. If you are serious about it, please answer to the comment rather than create a post that directly attacks her/him as an individual.

Thanks for responding here. What you’ve just said is very true. As much as Aryan has the very right to express what s/he wants to say. We too have just highlighted what he wrote at your esteemed site. We do not sensitive more than what he says.
Secondly, may I also point out that lawrkhawm.com is an open forum for registered members ONLY and is not as open as other blog sites like this, as non-registered members cannot make post there. Since, I’m not a member there, hence I cannot reply to his comment or post.
I’ve been to traveling in the past week and couldn’t reply you quickly.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, lawrkhawm.com is an open forum and perhaps you didn’t notice it, but when the site started out, one could post stories/articles anonymously and comment anonymously at the same time. As the site grew, this had to be stopped considering the number of unsavory posts/comments and spam posts (we once had an anonymous user posting a porn site and another one posting about a sauna review).
Lawrkhawm.com is open to anyone irrespective of caste/creed/race/culture.
May I also point out that one may post comments on this site, but one also needs to enter his/her email-id to post a comment. I am filling three fields here (my name, email, and website) to post a comment, while at lawrkhawm.com, all you need to do is to fill your desired username, password, enter some captcha codes and you’re registered. Hey, that’s not too long a process!

Hi Jimmy, its all about Samaw.com – wordpress.com vs lawrkhawm.com – Pligg Content Management System (www.pligg.com).
WordPress is protected by akismet and spams are filtered out and still non-registered users can post their comments. I don’t know if akismet is implemented in pligg too if so you could still allow guest user like me to post comment by entering email and if needed verification code too. However, if one registers in wp powered sites like this, its the same thing as pligg, they don’t need to enter their email every time they post comments. But that’s off the topic anyway.

I agree, majority may never cause any problem. Its someone like Aryan who needs to change their thinking and approach…

@solomon_n, Aryan is a biz student at New South Wales University in Australia. He is just another blogger and regular user of misual and lawrkhawm who loves to entertain other users with his witty comments and inimitable style of poking fun at others. We don’t need to be serious with him. Leave him alone and he will be okay like Laluji (no pun intended) Just play along with him…….
