Kim Yuna’s new World Record fetches her Gold
Kim Yuna of South Korea just made history for her and her country Korea at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver 2010 Olympics when she finished the Free Skating, the long form of Ladies figure skating with 150.06, totalling her point to a new world record of (+78.50 Short program) 228.56 points.

Her main arch-rival Asada Mao of Japan could managed to garnerĀ only 131.72 points in the Free Skating, totalling (+73.78 SP) 205.50 points. It was an impressive performance for her but not quite upto Kim Yuna’s margin in overall quality.
Here is the final standing of the scoreboard:

Joannie Rochette of Canada was third.
With the Olympic Gold Medal on her neck, the coronation of Queen Yuna – as she is fondly known in her home country South Korea, seems to have completed.
The scoring disparity between Kim Yuna and her nearest rival Asada Mao is a whopping 23.06 points. What sets Kim apart from the rest may be best explained by a comment from one Olympic singles champion, Robin Cousins.
Philip Hersh of Chicago Tribune had wrote earlier today quoted Robin Cousins as saying that Kim Yuna “has the ‘it’ factor. You either have it or you don’t. You can’t buy it. You can’t teach it.”
“You can only marvel at it.”
His words seem to be so true, especially after looking at the final score and the point difference of the top three top itself.
Congratulations to Kim Yuna!
