India: Bloggers’ freedom of expression curbed?
NEW DELHI – Bloggers may no longer express their uninhibited views on everything under the sun, for the Supreme Court said they may face libel and even prosecution for the blog content.
It will no longer be safe to start a blog and invite others to register their raunchy, caustic and even abusive comments on an issue while seeking protection behind the disclaimer — views expressed on the blog are that of the writers. Source: TOI via Misual.com
Blog owners have to moderate or monitor views expressed by users including the contents and comments posted by them. It this the end of freedom of expression or the start of curbing nasty comments?

While the ruling does indeed sound bothersome, the case is still in the High Court; all that the Supreme Court has said is that the respondent needs to appear in the Mumbai High Court. TOI was just sensationalizing the headline as usual. :-)

we hav 2 undrstand tht supreme court is a total political institution unlike wht we perceive as secular or sumthin….
