Emigration Check Not Required for Dubai, UAE for Visit, Tourist Visa

.

Any Indian citizens holding Passport with ECR (Emigration Check Required) stamp on it do not require Emigration clearance/suspension for visiting Dubai and other cities within United Arab Emirates (UAE) for Visit and Tourist Visas.

The new relaxation was made by the government of India for the convenience of its citizens see here.

However, if any ECR Passport holders travel to UAE for  employment and job purpose, they will need to get emigration clearance from any of the Protector of Emigrants Offices (POE) in India. Emigration suspension from the POE will be good for the one time visa.

For employment and job visa emigration clearance is required:

Documents required from emigration suspension are the two-way air tickets, passport with visa, the contact details in Dubai, etc. Once the application is submitted the clearance can be obtained the same day, depending on the length of the queue in the office. This temporary emigration suspension can be done from any of the POE offices in India. And it is compulsory for the applicant to be present in person, travel agents are not allowed anymore to do for the applicants. This is due to the enhanced security for the country.

In order to avoid the inconvenience, one can also apply ECNR from the Regional Passport Office (RPO), who originally issued the passport.  This permanent emigration clearance cannot be applied from the RPOs other than the office that issued you the passport.

If you are in a hurry and have no much time, get the emigration clearance from the POE, if you have plenty of time, let’s say you have more than one month, then you can apply for permanent ECNR from the RPO.
