The unpredictable winner of American Idol went to 25-year old David Cook breaking the hearts of millions of David Archuleta’s fans across the globe.

David Cook became the first performer in the rock music mold to win, amassing 56% of 96 million votes, to 44% for 17 year old prodigy David Archuleta, who sings in the pop balladeer style that has dominated “Idol” to date.

He was crowned as the 7th American Idol on Wednesday night at 7,000-seat Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles in California.

David Cook is a native of Blue Springs, Missouri. Rock music lovers around the world will surely appreciate their fellow rocker topping and winning the coveted ‘American Idol’ crown.
