on The BNLF, which submitted a ten-point Charter of demands during talks with the Mizoram Government here Friday, has demanded creation of an autonomous district council comprising the north-western belt of the state, adjoining tripura.

The outfit also demanded that five assembly seats be reserved for them. Demanding repatriation of all the brus/reangs now lodged in six camps in North Tripura, the BNLF representatives said they should be resettled in large villages, of not less than 160 households, for security reasons.

The BNLF delegation, led by its ‘Home Secretary’ Zaithanga Apeto, demanded establishment of hostels for Bru students by the state government in New Delhi and other big cities in the country. Official sources said Friday’s talks were held in a cordial atmosphere and both the parties agreed to resume the parleys in the second week of november.

Mizoram government delegates, led by Chief Secretary V Lalringa, urged BNLF representatives to come overground and cease violent activities to ensure a conducive atmosphere for talks and repatriation of Brus/Reangs from neighbouring Tripura.

You are right. The source in question is dated 2001.

Many of us don’t know what’s the demand of this outfit and why they continue to create bad image for the state. I should have mentioned that the article in question is dated 2001. I apologize for not mentioning it. The necessary info. has been added. Thanks for the input.
