Best Pictures of Aizawl – the “city on a hill”! Mizoram
I’m borrowing a statement made by ‘Canadian Heart Warmers’ who beautifully described Aizawl city, the capital of Mizoram state in the Northeast, a city within India’s Bible Belt as Biblically inspired term – the “city on a hill.” The best pictures that portray such statements are then collected from flickr, they are posted below:

I live in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. In 2007 I lived in Aizawl for six months.
Although I see women that look Mizo in Regina, I doubt that they are. It is a small city and I would be suprised if there were any Mizos here. I returned to Aizawl for a few days this past May with some Canadian friends, and I really want to go back already.

Hi Nic, there are many Chins (the same Mizo ethnic group in Burma/Myanmar) in Canada, I believe there are a good number of them in and around Saskatchewan too. You might have seen some of them.
I saw the lovely photos you’d taken during your visit to Mizoram. You are most welcome to visit again the state anytime!

Hi,
I am planning to visit Mizoram University but not sure where to stay in Aizawl. I want a peaceful but neat and clean open place with AC and restaurant. I will not mind a Bar attached :D
Secondly I want to know the taxi charges as well from airport to University or to suggested hotel and hotel to University.
Thanks for the help and best regards.

Hi Arun, you may contact hotels in Aizawl for your stay, list of hotels are here http://tinyurl.com/aizawlhotels
Mizoram is a dry state. No hotels are attached with bars.
About taxi fares, @burgerstud2005 and others will be able to tell you. They are not that costly.
As for the hotels, the costlier the better. Summer in Mizoram including Aizawl city is not hot like other places. the maximum temperature hovers at 30 degree Celcius. You don’t need to worry about AC rooms.

Chibai,
I was born n brought up in Aizawl. I have spent my childhood days i,e rosy days. I find quite a no of mizos in Delhi but most of them had become like North Indians and so
i don’t mingle with them much. Sad, right!!!!!!!
I don’t meant to hurt the sentiment but to express the ground realities. Thank you, ka lawm e.

Hi Souvik, the best way is to know more about the state is to visit in person. However, you will need an Inner Line Permit (someone call it a Visa to restricted area within India) to enter Mizoram. You can get it from Mizoram House in Kolkata or elsewhere.

Hello Aizawl!
O my God! I am missing..missing…missing… the beautiful peak at Durtlang, the Sun-Set, the Sun-Rise, the wind, the winter Sunflowers, the night view of Aizawl, the way from Leitang to Bawngkawn etc.etc.etc
I was at durtlang for 6 years(2001-2006) and …Now..Now i m missing that place…..
Sometimes my tears …..
