Bangalore International Airport (IATA: BLR, ICAO: VOBG) is an international airport that is being built at the cost of Rs 1,930.29 crore to serve the city of Bangalore, India. The airport is located in Devanahalli, which is 30 km from the city. (See the map for road direction, click for bigger picture)

Construction of the airport began in July 2005, after a decade long postponement. It is expected to be completed and operational by April 2, 2008. It will then take all the commercial flights that are currently operating out of the HAL Airport (the current Bangalore Airport). The Airport will be named as “Bangalore International Airport”.

Note: HAL Bangalore International Airport handled an estimated 7.5 million passengers a year as of 2006 and an average of at least 300 flights (take-offs and landings) per day, earning an estimated Rs 1-1.5 billion in landing and aircraft parking fees from scheduled airlines. HAL Bangalore Airport is the third most busiest Airport in India after Mumbai and Delhi.
