ASDC-BJP Triumph in Assam’s North Cachar Hills Council

The results of election of North Cachar Hills Autonomous District Council (NCAC) is out. The Autonomous State Demand Committee-BJP alliance bagged 20 seats out of 26 seats declared in 27-seat council.

Assam Tribune reported,

GUWAHATI, Dec 4 – The Autonomous State Demand Committee-BJP alliance today grabbed power in the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council and the Congress, which was in power in the Council, put up its worst ever performance in the hill district. Even Congress heavyweight and former Minister GC Langthasa has lost from Haflong constituency.

Till 11.30 pm, the results of 26 of the 27 constituencies were declared and the ASDC-BJP alliance got an absolute majority, winning 20 seats (ASDC-11, BJP-9). Independent candidates won three seats. The Congress too could manage just three seats. Result of the Garampani seat was yet to be declared.

It must be an embarrassing situation for the Congress party.
